MINUTES FROM THE NAIA BOWLING COACHES ASSOCIATION MEETING

HELD IN INDIANAPOLIS ON JULY 17, 2012

 

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY PRESIDENT KUBACKI AT 4:30 PM.

OFFICERS PRESENT: PRESIDENT MIKE KUBACKI, VICE PRESIDENT J.J. MASTNY, SECRETARY DALE LEHMAN

MEMBERS PRESENT: TWENTY NAIA COACHES            GUESTS PRESENT: FOUR GUESTS

 

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS BY PRESIDENT KUBACKI

 

NAIA UPDATE LETTER FROM NAIA REPRESENTATIVE JAMIE ADAMS WAS DISTRIBUTED AND DISCUSSED.

 

A FEE OF $25.00 PER COMPETING PROGRAM TO BE A MEMBER OF THE COACHES ASSOCIATION WAS ESTABLISHED AND MUST BE PAID IN ORDER TO HAVE VOTING RIGHTS FOR THE COACHES POLLS AND POST SEASON AWARDS.

 

J.J. MASTNY WILL COORDINATE THE COACHES POLLS.

 

DISCUSSED ADDING OUR LOGO TO THE WEB SITE AND OFFICERS CONTACT INFORMATION.

 

RECRUITING RULES AND ETHICS PROPOSAL WAS DISTRIBUTED, DISCUSSION ON VARIOUS PARTS OF THE RULES ENDED WITH A MOTION BROUGHT FROM RON DAMRON TO ACCEPT THE RECRUITING RULES AS WRITTEN, WITH A SECOND FROM GLEN HEALY. A VOTE WAS CALLED AND ALL WERE IN FAVOR. MOTION PASSED.

 

MORE DISCUSSION FOLLOWED ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT SIGNING THE RECRUITING RULES SHEET AND WHEN IT HAD TO BE SIGNED BY. A MOTION WAS BROUGHT BY KYLE WILSON TO REQUIRE COACHES TO SIGN BY SEPTEMBER 21ST OR BE INELIGIBLE FOR THE NAIA INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT AND POST SEASON AWARDS, SECOND BY CHRIS HUFFMAN. A VOTE WAS CALLED AND ALL WERE IN FAVOR. MOTION PASSED.

 

DISCUSSION OF THE NAIA INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT. LOCATIONS TO HOST THE TOURNAMENT WERE DISCUSSED AND IT WAS DECIDED TO NOT LIMIT THE FIELD SIZE THIS YEAR. INDIANAPOLIS WILL AGAIN BE THE HOST CITY FOR OUR NAIA INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT. DISCUSSED REDUCING COSTS BY GOING TO A BUFFET LINE AND POSSIBLE KICK BACK FROM A HOST HOTEL. DISCUSSED KEEPING THE FORMAT THE SAME. DISCUSSED LIMITING THE FIELD TO THE TOP 20 MENS AND TOP 20 WOMENS TEAMS IN 2014. DISCUSSED HAVING 17 AT LARGE BIDS AND 3 AUTOMATIC BIDS  GRANTED TO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS IN 2014. THE WHAC CONFERENCE, THE MID SOUTH CONFERENCE, AND THE MIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE. DISCUSSION ABOUT ADDING SINGLES AND DOUBLES FORMAT WAS TABLED.

A MOTION WAS BROUGHT BY KYLE WILSON TO HAVE 17 AT LARGE BIDS AND 3 AUTOMATIC CONFERENCE CHAMPION BIDS, THE WHAC, MID SOUTH, AND MIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCES. SECOND BY JOHN RAUSCH. A VOTE WAS CALLED AND ALL WERE IN FAVOR. MOTION PASSED.

A MOTION WAS BROUGHT BY RANDY STOUGHTON TO ADJOURN. SECOND BY DALE LEHMAN. A VOTE WAS CALLED AND ALL WERE IN FAVOR. MOTION PASSED.
